Northcote City Football Club is pleased to have Nicholas Bavcar back in its ranks going into next season.
The left-back joined City as a 15-year-old in 2011 and under the guidance of Under 20 coach Alex Gymnopoulos, broke into the first team in 2015.
However just four games into his senior career, a long-term knee injury put Bavcar out of action. He showed immense professionalism to work his way back to full fitness and once again into Northcote’s first eleven in 2016.
After a brief departure towards the end of the season, Bavcar is back at John Cain Memorial Park and excited for what lies ahead.
“We know it will be a difficult year because quite a few teams are in the same boat but our main goal as a team will be to push for promotion,” the 21-year-old said.
“Individually it’s just about playing a good, consistent year and hopefully injury-free.”
Bavcar revealed that recently appointed Head Coach Zeljko Kuzman was instrumental in bringing him back into the picture for 2017.
“I’ve had some good chats with Zeljko which were all very positive. He is probably the main reason why I decided to re-sign at the club.”
“Zeljko is a great guy. He’s down to earth and confident in his own coaching methods, which instills belief into us as players that we can work together and achieve big things this season.”
