Northcote City has welcomed 25-year-old defensive midfielder Peter Sawan as the newest addition to City’s list and he is hoping to insert his experience as a defensive midfielder. An unfortunate past of injury has left gaps in his career which he is confident he will be able to fill at City.
“Personally, I want to have a season where I show the ability I have as a footballer like I once did,” Sawan said. “Injury filled years has stopped me from doing this recently.
“I hope to bring a sense of maturity to the team. Control the tempo of the game and hopefully make it easier for us to dictate the game.”
Previous success with new Northcote boss, Zeljko Kuzman, at Richmond Eagles was the main motivator for Sawan’s move. Together they have won a championship and Sawan was also the winner of last year’s best and fairest for the Eagles.
“I want to bring lots of players into the game and make sure that our front men are getting lots of opportunity to score.
“Having worked with Zelko at Richmond in 2015 where we won the league, it was an easy move to come across when we spoke.”
“I’m also familiar with the club and its representatives and the reputation the club holds which is a proud one, and one that I want to honour and help redeem.”
