Northcote City Progress in Dockerty Cup

bluebackground-logoNorthcote City have progressed to the 5th Round of the Dockerty Cup with a resounding 3-0 win against fellow NPLV rivals Port Melbourne at SS Anderson Reserve on Saturday Night.

City took the lead against the run of play in the 16th minute through Michael Junior Catalano who chipped brilliantly over Port keeper Alex Connel to give the visitors the lead.

The City defence held firm under immense pressure from Port who squandered excellent opportunities through Ross Honos and Kevin Braniff and where made to rue those chances after Trent Rixon converted from the penalty spot in the dying moments of the first half after a foul in the box on Jude Fitzpatrick.

Northcote brushed of the cobwebs in the second half to give a more resolute performance with Jonathan Bounas pulling the Strings in the middle of the park and a deserved third goal came in the dying stages of the game with Ersin Kaya scoring his first goal for the club by latching on to a good trough ball from Bounas and rounding the keeper before slotting into an empty net.

Lineup: Theodoridis, Sifinos, Fitzpatrick, Chiappetta, Petreski, Kaya, Gasparis (Ward), Lombardo (Bounas), Catalano (Dekker), Rixon (Kalifatidis), Wooding.
