Former Northcote City Paralympic 7-a-side star Christian Tsangas (pictured right) has been selected to represent Australia as part of the 2016 World Championships Qualification Tournament to be held in Denmark.
Tsangas was named in the final 14-man Pararoos squad that will take part in the tournament held by the International Federation for Cerebral Palsy Football.
Son of former Northcote player and coach George Tsangas, Christian played for Northcote’s DSR side from 2013-2015 and also represented the Victoria Paralympic team.
The Pararoos been drawn in Group A alongside the likes of Spain and Scotland and Head Coach Kai Lammert is excited to see how his team will fare when the tournament starts next week.
“Every player did their homework regarding tactical, technical and physical preparation prior to the camp which made it really hard for the coaching staff to pick just 14 players,” Lammert told the official Pararoos website.
“This will be one of the youngest teams we ever had with half of the players under the age of 18 and three players under the age of 16.”
“We’re all looking forward to the tournament in Denmark. It will be tough qualifying for the World Championships with only one camp in the lead up to the tournament, but I am confident we have assembled a very exciting Pararoos team who is well prepared and up for the challenge.”
Everyone at Northcote City would like to congratulate Christian on his wonderful achievement and wish him all the best for the tournament and beyond.
