Knight and Yousif say yes to Northcote

Northcote City are delighted to announce the signings of Josh Knight and Baggio Yousif.

The duo become Zeljko Kuzman’s third and fourth new off-season arrivals to boost both the midfield and attack.

Originally from the United Kingdom where he progressed at West Bromwich Albion, Knight spent two years at Richmond SC and the 2016 season at St Albans, being part of title-winning teams at both clubs.

“I’ve been really lucky in the last two years to win two championships,” the Welshman said.

“Some players go a long time without winning championships. I can say I’ve done two back-to-back and a goal this year is to try to add to that.”

Able to slot into any position across midfield, Knight has worked with Kuzman previously and pointed to Northcote as a club and the Head Coach as key factors in his move to John Cain Memorial Park.

“I spoken to a few people who have been part of Northcote and they all talk about the family environment and really welcoming fanbase.”

“I’ve been a part of Zeljko’s coaching methods and truly seen the benefits of everything. He has embarked on a really interesting season ahead with Northcote and it’s really exciting to become a part of it.”

Yousif joins from Moreland Zebras where the 22-year-old made a big impression over the last two seasons.

“Zeljko was really keen to work with me this year and I was really happy with what we spoke about. I’m just looking forward to getting started,” he said.

Yousif can operate as a wide attacker and as a striker, notching 14 goals for Moreland Zebras last season where he also formed an understanding with two current City players.

“I used to play with James Papa and Danny (Charalambous) so I’m really happy to have that relationship back.”

“I’m all about speed. I like to run at defenders and utilise one-on-one situations.”

“My aim is to score goals, assist goals and help take Northcote to the next level.”
