Northcote City is pleased to announce the signing of centre-back Jake Moloney from State League 1 side Malvern City FC.
Moloney broke into the senior team in 2013 and still only 20 years old already has a wealth of first team experience.
After five years with Malvern he felt he was ready to make the step up.
‘I think now is the best time more than ever. It’s a big opportunity and one I couldn’t pass up,’ Moloney said.
‘I’m very excited to be here.’
The towering defender is keen to contribute as City enters the second half of the season.
‘It’s a tough league but Northcote is in a good position and moving in the right direction.’
‘It’s going to be challenging to fight for a spot. It’s a good group of players, a good group of lads and I’m looking forward to it.’
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Phil Petrovski returns to John Cain Memorial Park after spending the first half of the season at Whittlesea Ranges.
Joining Northcote last season at the age of 20, Petrovski established himself as the starting keeper with a brilliant run of form in the latter part of the 2016 campaign.
He returns and will provide competition for Griffin McMaster.
‘It was a challenging ride but I definitely enjoyed my first year at Northcote. It’s a great club to be around, a great atmosphere and I’m happy to be back.’
‘It’s an exciting time. Griff and I will be helping each other along and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future has in store.’
The boys are in action away to Ballarat this Saturday with a 6pm kick off at Morshead Park.
