Everybody at Northcote City would like to congratulate Will Clemens, Michael Prapas and Viv Wright on being selected for the FFV Paralympic 7-a-side squad.
Since 2012, Northcote City and Disability Sport & Recreation have provided a football program targeting people with Cerebral Palsy, Acquired Brain Injury and symptoms from stroke.
The program introduces players to football, played in a 7-a-side format aligned with the International Federation of CP Football.
This program is essentially the development stepping stone for our state squad and since 2012, Northcote City has produced a number of players who are now representing Victoria. Three of those players are now proudly representing the Pararoos, our national Paralympic football team.
With some more hard work ahead of them, we wish Will, Michael and Viv all the best for their future with the state team. We hope in the years ahead that they may even contribute to the Pararoos improving their current world ranking of #16, into the top 10 and beyond.
The future is looking bright for Paralympic football in this country.
Lastly, deep thanks goes out to everyone at our club for championing and supporting this program, DSR for their initial involvement, FFV and the boys’ much travelled parents.
