2016 PS4 NPL Victoria Round 13- Northcote City v Oakleigh Cannons
Saturday May 21st, 3:00pm at John Cain Memorial Park
14th v 6th
Northcote meet the Oakleigh Cannons for the first time this season, with Northcote looking to bounce back from 5-0 losses against their respective opponents in the past two weeks, while Oakleigh will be looking to secure their second win in a row after defeating Heidelberg United 1-0 last week.
Northcote City (LDWLL)
Despite two improved performances against the Bulleen Lions and the Richmond S.C where they secured their first win, Northcote have struggled against top-quality opposition with back to back 5-0 losses to Hume City and Bentleigh Greens. With Northcote playing Oakleigh at home, they will be looking to provide a much-improved performance when the two sides meet on Saturday afternoon.
Oakleigh Cannons (LWDLW)
The Cannons have started the year off well with five wins and three losses for the season. Coming from a 5-0 loss to Green Gully, Oakleigh where able to bounce back with a 1-0 win against Heidelberg last week courtesy of a second half goal from in-form midfielder Dusan Bosnjak. Now sitting sixth on the ladder, they will be looking for nothing less than three points when they meet bottom of the table Northcote.
One to Watch: Dusan Bosnjak
Bosnjak has been fundamental for the Cannons this year scoring five goals in his past 11 matches. The inform midfielder was also influential in Oakleigh’s 1-0 win against the Bergers last week, scoring a blistering goal outside the box just after half time to secure the Cannons’ fifth win for the season.
Head to Head
The last time these two teams met was July last year where Oakleigh snapped City’s three-game winning streak with a 1-1 draw at John Cain Memorial Park.
