Following Northcote City’s 2-1 win over Bentleigh on Saturday, three Hercules players made The Corner Flag’s Team of the Week for Round 25.
Captain Greg Lombardo got the nod in central defence for another commanding display, with TCF observing:
while Bentleigh were missing a wealth of first team attackers, they still boasted an attack that had plenty of potency in the form of Kamal Ibrahim, Tyson Holmes and former Melbourne Victory duo John Maclean and Kieran Dover. Lombardo and partner Michalis Karvouniaris hardly gave them a sniff across the 90 minutes to keep alive their hopes of staying in the top-flight.
Jonathan Bounas put in a colossal shift in midfield which didn’t go unnoticed:
The Northcote midfielder displayed a wide range of passing from midfield and got involved at both ends in a bustling display in the centre of the park. His performance went a long way towards a vital win.
While match-winner James Papadimitriou is included on the bench:
Alongside Melbourne City trialist Braedyn Crowley, former Moreland Zebras man James Papadimitriou was fantastic leading the lines for Northcote City, going on to net what proved to be the winner in the second half.
