We’re coming to the end of our trials and the pre-season is about to begin.
Officially, the pre-season starts next week for most of our groups.
On our website (northcotecity.com.au), we’ve created a training schedule tab and you can see exactly what time each group is training and where. This schedule will be good for the first two weeks and we’re likely to make adjustments throughout the February period.
Grounds are always an issue at this time of year. For us, we’ve got our West-End facility which is the grass pitch next to the stadium and between the flats. We also have one synthetic pitch available to us, however only on a Tuesday and Thursday night.
We’re really excited to have the opportunity to introduce girls to our club for season 2013. We’re looking to register Under 14 and Under 16 girls this year with the potential to include an Under 12’s as well.
Training for all girls teams will begin on February 18 on the West End pitch.
If you know of any girls who want to participate and play football with Northcote in season 2013, please advise them that we now have several all-girl teams available.
SMALL SIDED FOOTBALL
This relates to U9, U10 and U11’s. The season begins on Tuesday 18th. If you take some time to look at the training schedule, you’ll notice that session times are 5:15 – 6:15pm for the U9 and U10’s on the Synthetics. U11’s are 5:30pm – 7:00pm on the West-End pitch.
HIGH PERFORMANCE MEETING
On Monday 4th of February at 7:00pm – 8:00pm, we’re going to have a meeting for all of our advanced groups who will be participating in the high-performance training program.
The groups that this relates to are the U12K’s (Lirim Sulimi) U13B’s (Stefan Busso), U14A’s (Andrew Kenta), U15A’s (Con Anthopoulos), U16A’s (Harry Fait), U17A’s (Arthur Xanthopoulos) and U18 Purple.
Present on the night, will be Socs Nicholaides (Technical Director), John Kobiela (Football Conditioning), Piero Sacchetta (Advanced Athletic Performance).
On the night, we will be covering the training schedule, the philosophy behind this program and how we will be delivering it. For most of the above mentioned groups, they will be training 3 nights a week.
The sports and strengthening component will be optional for players. If you are not part of the above mentioned teams and you want to attend, you are more than welcome.
INTERNATIONAL PUSKAS CUP IN HUNGARY
We’ve been selected to represent Australia in an international tournament in March in Hungary. This will be a great honour for any club in the world, especially one like ours. The cup is an U17 tournament and is honour of the great Hungarian (and Real Madrid) legend, Ferenc Puskas.
The Australian side will be largely made up of Northcote City U17 players and will be playing against youngsters from Real Madrid, Greek Club, Panathinaikos and Rapid Vienna. The team will be coached by Socceroo legend, Alan Davidson and assistant, Socs Nicolaidis.
JUNIOR LEAGUE DATES
Other dates to be aware of:
The season starts on April 14th and is concluded September 8th (unless of course you’re in finals).
That’s all for now, let the training begin for season 2013!
Good luck to all players.
