NCFC Under 12s complete treble with Final triumph

Northcote City’s Under 12 NPL side have added yet another accolade to their stunning season with a 1-0 win over NPL West Premiers Pascoe Vale in the cross-division Final.

A solitary goal from Matthew Mosbauer was enough to seal victory and cap off a truly remarkable season for Jim Peios’ team, who had already sealed the NPL East title as well as the inaugural City Cup, which will see the squad travel to Manchester in early 2016.

An instrumental player throughout the season, Paige Zois was delighted that the team came home with another prize.

“It was a pretty tense game, both teams were great,” she said.

“We scored a great goal and it was a really nice finish.”

Asked what was behind such a successful season, Zois hailed the team ethos.

“We bonded really well, all of us. I think that made a big impact. “We were all great friends and we all worked really hard.”

A highly valuable performer in the team, Zois is the only girl amongst a group of boys- but it’s something she or anyone else rarely thinks about.

“It’s just normal I guess. I just had to get used to it at the very start but they just treat me like everyone else.”

Though the season is over for now, Zois is relishing the upcoming trip to the United Kingdom where she and her teammates will face Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad.

“I’m very excited. We didn’t expect to win it (the City Cup) but it’s a great reward for the team.”
