Saturday June 25th, 3:00pm at John Cain Memorial Park

13th v 4th

Northcote meet Green Gully for the second time this season with Northcote looking to bounce back from a 3-1 loss to Pascoe Vale while Green Gully will be looking for their tenth win for the season after securing a 1-1 draw with Heidelberg United last week.

Northcote City (LWLWL)

Coming from an impressive 5-0 victory against the Knights, Northcote were unable to continue on their winning ways against Pascoe Vale. The visitors were on the back foot right from the very beginning courtesy of a double from Davey Van’t Schip, with the striker scoring the hosts’ first just minutes into the first half and a curler from the edge of the box in the 30th minute. Paco were able to secure the win through a Jake Nakic header in the 50th minute, with Northcote’s only goal coming through substitute James Papadimitriou in the 73rd minute. With the 3-1 loss to Pascoe Vale leaving Northcote still in the relegation zone, they will be need a stronger effort and three points when they meet Gully at home.

One to watch: James Papadimitriou

Papadimitriou has made an immediate impact for Northcote since being signed by the club in the mid-season transfer window, with the striker scoring his first goal on debut last week after coming on in place of fellow recruit Danny Charalambous.

Green Gully (LLWWD)

Green Gully have had an impressive season thus far and are well within finals contention. Coming off a 3-2 win over Avondale the previous week, Green Gully were able to get a point away to the Bergers courtesy of a Liam Boland header in the 52nd minute. Sitting fourth on the ladder and favourites coming into this match, they will be expecting maximum points.

One to Watch: Liam Boland

Boland has been influential for Gully since signing halfway through 2015. The striker is in good recent form with three goals in his past two matches.  He also scored a double in their impressive 5-0 victory over Northcote earlier this year.

Head to Head

The last time these two teams met was in Round 5 this year when Gully comprehensively defeated Northcote 5-0 at Green Gully Reserve, while the last meeting at John Cain Memorial Park in 2015 saw Northcote run out 3-1 winners.
