Northcote City are delighted to announce the signing of winger Borbor Sam.
21-year-old Sam comes with a strong pedigree having spent three years at Perth Glory as part of the youth set-up, on the back of being part of Bayswater City’s run to the final in Western Australia’s NPL as a teenager.
A quick, powerful and direct player, Sam represents an exciting capture as Northcote look to push on with a group of quality signings arriving.
“I thought that I could go to a club where I could make a difference and help, and that’s what I want to try and do,” Sam said.
“Training has been good. The last couple of weeks have been harder than usual but we’re going really well. The boys are starting to get used to the quality. It’s very intense and high tempo so I’m enjoying it.”
Sam is confident in his abilities and is raring to make his debut for City.
“I’m rapid. I’m quick and strong. I like to run at players. I like to get at defenders. I’m not one to restart all the time. I move forward and I don’t like to go backwards.”
“We’ve definitely got the quality in the team to be successful. At training it’s been great but when it has come to implementing it in the game I think we’re just a little bit shy at the moment. We need someone to come out there and help show them how it’s done and I can do that.”
Sam will be eligible to play in the coming days as the mid-season transfer window officially opens.
